Owens Corning believes that it is the social responsibility of a company to
operate with respect for the rights of others and the environment. This
includes understanding and communicating information about the
health and safety impact of our products
throughout their life cycles.
During the last 50 years, researchers have extensively studied fiber glass and
have found that:
- Exposures to glass fibers are low
today and have been historically low.
- Our workers are
healthy. Glass wool fibers have not been associated with disease in our workplace.
- Glass fibers disappear quickly.
If inhaled, our glass wool insulation fibers disappear from the lung
as fast as ordinary
dust that is breathed everyday.

Fiber glass insulation keeps your home warm in winter, cool in summer and quiet
all year long. It helps cut energy use which saves money and reduces pollution.
And, it's environmentally friendly. Fiber glass insulation is made from
natural ingredients like sand and at least 30 percent recycled products, such
as bottles and window glass. It also helps reduce carbon dioxide emissions
in the atmosphere - for every pound of carbon dioxide emitted in the production
of fiber glass insulation, 330 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions are avoided
by the use of that insulation. Owens Corning demonstrates their leadership in
environmental stewardship in many ways. A few examples include participating
in Built Green and receiving GREENGUARD® Certification.
