Direct LFT Compression & Injection
In the Direct LFT compression and injection molding process, the thermoplastic to be reinforced is introduced at the head of the extruder.
The glass rovings are introduced in the melt of the twin-screw extruder to be impregnated and cut with a soft screw profile.
The "hot bulk molding compound" produced is then either quickly transferred to a press for compression molding or directly transferred to a shot pot for injection molding, where it is molded while still hot. The part is then removed after sufficient cooling.
