When owner Jean Pier planned a 6,000 sq. ft. expansion to the Amosphere Hotel, he chose QuietZone® Acoustic Wall Framing to ensure all guests had a quiet stay. According to Pier, they wanted "the best sound control walls available."
The expansion features two types of wall systems. One uses QuietZone® Acoustic Wall Framing studs at 16" o.c. with two layers of 5/8" Type X gypsum on one side and one layer on the other side. The other uses QuietZone® Acoustic Wall Framing studs at 24" o.c. with two layers of 5/8" Type X gypsum on both sides. The walls have an STC of 54 and 58 respectively. Both types meet design requirements for a one-hour fire separation.
Pier was also quite satisfied with the results. The contractor found QuietZone® Acoustic Wall Framing easy to install using traditional framing techniques, and customers describe the rooms as "very well sound-proofed."
"We made a good choice," said Pier. "We are very happy with the QuietZone® Product."
