Printing with XSTRAND™ may reduce lifespan of brass nozzles and extruder driving wheels. It is advised to use hardened steel nozzles and extruder driving wheels. <br><br> <h4>Nozzle Settings</h4> <p>Hardened steel nozzle is highly recommended to print XSTRAND™ filaments. When melted, XSTRAND™ filament can be abrasive due to its glass reinforcement. Using hardened steel nozzles and extruder driving wheels is advised. <br><br> <h4>Bed Components</h4> <ul> <li>Bed Temperature: 80 - 110°C <li>If printing on glass either use reinforced strapping packaging tape (ie: Scotch Extreme Tape) on the bed with a bed temperature around 30 - 50°C or use Wolfbite ultra for polypropylene from Airwolf. <li>It is recommended to use a thicker bed (1/4" to 3/8"), such as high density polyethylene plate as a printing surface, instead of a glass plate for bed temperatures 30 - 50°C. <li>For large flat surfaces, a raft is required to reduce warping. 5-8mm raft offset and an airgap of .16 - .18 are recommended for best results. </div> </div> <br><br> <div class="mbl"> <h3>Storage and Drying</h3> XSTRAND™ filaments must be stored in a dark and temperate location. It is recommended that the product remain closed in its original packaging until use. <br> <br> <b><i>* IMPORTANT NOTE:</b></i> GF30-PA6 is very sensitive to moisture. For optimal printing results, the product must be dried at least 4 hours in the oven at 80°C prior to use and stored in a dry, Pelican like case, even during printing. </div> <br><br> <div class="mbl"> <h3> Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)</h3> <h4>What is the optimal print temperature?</h4> <ul> <li> PP - 250 - 280°C <li> PA - 240 - 260°C <li> If using adhesive solution (packaging tape, HDPE bed, etc.), much lower in the range of 30-50°C </ul> <h4>What are the applications for the material?</h4><ul> <li>Industrial usage including tools, fixtures, heavy duty replacement parts. <li>Sport and leisure parts. <li>Electronics and appliance parts, and many others. </ul> <h4>How quickly does it degrade your hardened nozzle - e.g. how many grams printed before replacement?</h4><ul> <li>On the ulti-maker, we have 2,432 hours of successful prints with GF-30 PP and GF-30 PA6 using the same tool steel nozzle. </ul> <h4>What is the difference in surface finish between the two XSTRAND™ GF-30 PP and GF-30 PA</h4><ul> <li>The GF-30 PA6 feels a little rougher and the GF-30 PP is silkier. </ul> <h4>How much temperature can the printed part handle? Wet or dry?</h4><ul> <li>This is linked to the Heat Temperature Deflection Test. We chose the highest ISO standard value at 1.8MPa and both materials standard specimen is handling 120°C in temperature. For this standard test, material are conditioned 48h at 23°C and 50% moisture air before the test.
