Forbes America’s Best Large Employers
Owens Corning ranked 131 overall on the Forbes list of America's Best Large Employers for 2021 and #6 in the manufacturing industry category. Forbes, in partnership with Statista, surveyed more than 30,000 workers at corporations, nonprofits, universities, and government agencies with 5,000 or more employees. The survey asked people about the likelihood of recommending their employer to others, as well as how they felt about other employers in their industry.
Debuting at #16 on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) National Top 100 List of the largest green power users from the Green Power Partnership. The company is also #11 on the list of Green Power Partners from the Fortune 500®.
2020 CDP Climate A List and Water A List
Owens Corning was named to CDP’s “Climate A List” for the fifth year in a row and the “Water Security A List” for the second straight year. Inclusion on these lists recognizes Owens Corning for its corporate sustainability leadership, through scoring that “measures comprehensiveness of disclosure, awareness and management of environmental risks and best practices associated with environmental leadership, such as setting ambitious and meaningful targets Formerly known as Carbon Disclosure Project, the U.K.-based CDP works with investors, companies and policymakers to reduce GHG emissions and safeguard water resources and forests.
In 2020, for the 11th year in a row, Owens Corning earned placement in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index in recognition of its sustainability initiatives. The DJSI World Index is an elite listing of the world’s largest companies based on long-term economic, environmental and social criteria. The company was named Industry Leader for the DJSI World Building Products group for the 8th straight year.

For the seventh consecutive year, Owens Corning was named one of the best places to work in information technology by Insider Pro and IDG's Computerworld. The ranking is based on such factors as benefits, diversity, career development, training, retention, and the results of an employee survey. Owens Corning received the No. 2 spot among the top 100 large organizations for 2020. In 2019, Owens Corning ranked No. 1 on the list.
Owens Corning received a perfect score on the 2021 Corporate Equality Index. The company earned 100 percent for the 17th consecutive time on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s annual scorecard. CEI is a key benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality.
S&P Global Gold Class Distinction
Earning Gold Class distinction from S&P Global, the organization’s highest honor for excellence in sustainability performance, for the eighth consecutive year. Owens Corning was the sole Gold Class awardee in the Building Products category. S&P Global is a leading provider of credit ratings, benchmarks and analytics in the global capital and commodity markets.
The yearbook looks at performance across such factors as volunteerism, energy and emissions reduction, production efficiency, customer and supplier collaboration, and talent development.
Owens Corning was recognized by 2020 Women on Boards for having 25 percent women on its board. The goal of the 2020 Women on Boards campaign, which began in 2010, is to raise the percentage of women on corporate boards in the United States to 20 percent or more by the year 2020.
Named one of America’s Most Responsible Companies 2020 by Newsweek magazine. Owens Corning ranked No. 76 on the magazine’s inaugural list, which was created in partnership with global data research firm Statista Inc. The analysis measured 2,000 public companies on three areas of corporate responsibility: environment, social and corporate governance.
Several Thermafiber® mineral wool insulation products and their supporting design and installation services earned SAFETY Act Designation from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Use of these products and services will provide building professionals with liability protection in the unfortunate event of an act of terrorism on their structure.
Certified as Made with 100% Wind-Powered Electricity
In 2017, three types of Owens Corning commercial and residential insulation were independently certified as made with renewable energy. These products are the first ever to meet the requirements of SCS Global Services’ certification protocol to validate electricity used to make them is 100% wind-powered, which, in turn, reduces their carbon footprint. Owens Corning now offers 13 products with this certification.
Owens Corning received asthma & allergy friendly® certification for its Pure Safety™ high performance insulation – the building products industry’s first product to earn the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA). Pure Safety™ insulation has up to 65% less dust than comparable insulation and is mold and mildew resistant.
Owens Corning received the highest honor of the National Safety Council in 2014, the Green Cross for Safety medal. NSC presents the award annually to an organization with outstanding safety performance and a commitment to improving the quality of life in the communities where its employees work and live.
