My experience with Planet Roof has been extremely disappointing. I will share my entire experience from start to end. While I did have my roof replaced by Planet Roof my overall opinion is poor. Based on my experience, they are overpriced for the value delivered, they are not accountable for their actions, they are not transparent or have integrity with their practices and they do not follow through or follow up which is not acceptable in any form of business. When I originally contacted Planet Roof I was able to schedule a time for a sales person to come out to my home within a week, which I thought was fine. When I met Pete from Planet Roof he seemed friendly and knowledgeable at the time. When I received my quote from Planet Roof it was about $1,500.00 more than the other two quotes that I received from similar competitors, which made them the most expensive. I contacted Pete to see if he could be a bit more competitive and to his credit he did reduce the quote about $700.00 which still made them the most expensive out of the three quotes I received. I decided to go with Planet Roof mostly due to the positive reviews I found online, I also assumed since they were a larger company and I was paying a bit more I would receive a better experience with less hassle and less time I would have to invest into the dealing.A few weeks later Pete contacted me stating that he forgot something on my quote. That there would be a change order for an additional $400.00 because he forgot to add the cost to raise my vent pipes and move one vent pipe (which did not happen, explained below) I was a bit frustrated at the time because they should be accountable for their mistake and they were not. It just felt a bit off especially after we negotiated a price. I just agreed because I wanted to just get the roof replaced before snow season. I was also traveling at the time and I just did not have the time to deal with this. When I received the material delivery prior to the install I opened one of the shingle bundles. The shingles did not look like the same color that was reflected in the brochure that Pete provided. It was the product I ordered but looked nothing like the brochure. I was looking for a dark grey shingle and when they product was delivered it was a light grey shingle. I contacted Pete and to his credit he said he could change it out but at this point I was not confident what I would get or if it would reflect anything close to the brochure he left with me. The only clearly darker shingle would have been black which I was not interested in. My point with this is they were not prepared or knowledgeable with the product they were selling. If Pete had an actual product sample board like a lot of competitors I could have clearly seen the color. Just another disappointing part of this experience. At the day of the install I met the crew and they seemed very nice. Once they started they stated they would not be able to move one of the vent pipes as listed in the $400.00 change order but they still added the pipe extensions. I did not receive and change order back reducing the price for not moving the pipe. Which reflects not having integrity or being fair or consistent. When they were more than willing to charge more for their own mistake. Also at the end of the job they was bit of material left, a few rolls of felt and shingle bundles but that was not adjusted to the price and they removed the materials which I paid for, which is not a huge deal it just reflects the inconsistency. Which again reflects poor integrity. I also found a lot of debris and garbage and about 20 nails since roof completion which was about 60 days ago. After that experience I just wanted to move on but on New Year’s Day which was about 2 months after my roof was replaced I noticed some paint bubbling on my bathroom ceiling. I popped the bubble and water came out. I went into my attic and noticed a stream of water near the bathroom vent pipe. I then went onto my roof and noticed three nail heads on separate bathroom vent boots were not sealed, this is where the water was coming in. I made the repairs and now I also need to paint and repair my bathroom and ceiling. I was frustrated at the time but I did not reach out to Planet Roof because I did not trust them at this point, nor did I have the time to deal with them. Again, this is costing me more time and money for their mistakes.A few weeks later I am in the process of selling another one of my properties and after the inspection there was a nail head that was popping up. The closing company requires only a roofer to make repair. I contacted Pete and explained what recently happened at my home with the leak and told him I made the repair but I could use some help with another property of mine. The first thing he says I will have to charge you for it. At first I was surprised but then after thinking about it, it reflects the same practices as my previous experiences with Planet Roof. I explained to him that I wanted him to take care of it due to the leak at my home and it was essentially the same kind of repair. Pete stated he was not able to make that decision and he would call me back. It has been a week now and I have not heard back from Pete. Luckily, I was able to get a reliable roofer to make the repair. It does not cost anything to return a phone call. This is inline and reflects similar experiences with Planet Roof with lack of professionalism, lack of integrity and lack of accountability. I do try my best to be reasonable and laid back with most dealings in life, mistakes are going to happen but it’s more about how you deal with them, then the actual mistakes. I typically leave positive feedback when my experience is positive. I usually do not even leave negative feedback but I thought it was important to share this experience so others are aware what they may have to deal with. It seems very short sighted by Planet Roof. I will not recommend them or use them at any of my properties that I own or manage. Truly disappointing.
We are very happy that we chose Planet Roof.
They provided very good service from the beginning until the end. It was excellent.
